This is the most up to date module timetable, with the guest lecture programme. All sessions are compulsory unless otherwise stated in the module guide in Blackboard. If you have missed any sessions, please speak to the module leader.

Week 3: CREATING OPPORTUNITIES 
Guest Lecture and discussion: Jack Boffy, recent graduate from Plymouth University on how to create opportunities; reflections on his photographic journey by bicycle from Bergen – Helsinki and life after graduation.
Reflections and Research: what opportunities can you create for yourself, to stand out from the crowd, to get noticed, to network, etc.? Who is your ideal audience?

Week 4: RESEARCH ACTION PLANS / DIGITAL PORTFOLIOS TUTORIALS
Digital Portfolios; planning and designing. Individual tutorials to discuss your research question and action plans. (If you miss this session you must arrange a tutorial with the module leader.)

Week 8: INSIGHT INTO COMMERCIAL STUDIOS: In conversation with Niels Burgess, Director of Lime Creative Studios
A special guest talk and ‘in conversation’ event with Niels Burgess, Director of Lime Creative Studios. This is an opportunity to understand the journey of starting up a commercial studio, the day-to-day experience of directing a commercial product photography studio, case studies of projects: brief-final product, reflections on client working relationships and a tour of the studio LIVE via SKYPE.  This will be followed by a Q&A with students.
Afterwards there will be tutorials and feedback on digital portfolios. ALL STUDENTS TO SHARE THEIR DIGITAL PORTFOLIO URL with the module leader.

Week 10: BUSINESS START-UP and FREELANCING
Kat Jones from the Business School at the University of Worcester joins us to share information on how to go about starting up your own business or going freelance. This will be followed by a workshop where students will draft a business or freelancing plan.
